We perform four of the six cantatas comprising Bach’s much beloved Christmas Oratorio. First performed in 1734 by the Thomaner Chor in Leipzig for church services on the major feast days between Christmas and the Feast of the Epiphany, Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium remains the Christmas work, an enduring tradition, in the German-speaking world. This performance is our annual contribution to the spirit of the season.
